Centro Arco Iris "Club Amigos" May 30, 2007

The activities of the Center Arco Iris run approximately parallel with the school calendar. So there are no activities during the hot summer months. The team is using this period to put many things in order, as to be prepared again for the coming season after the summer and also to go on furlough or have some holidays.

Most children move during the holiday period with their families away from Madrid, depending on their origins to North Africa, South America or to a village in the cooler mountains where some have a simple house. Few children stay behind during this time.

The past season is always concluded with the end of season party and after the summer we begin the activities with an start of season party. Depending on the weather more or less water will be used.

The program
Eating cake with whipped cream without hands, cups of water on your head to which a bottle is filled, sack-race, biting grapes that float in water followed by biting candy from a bowl with baking flour (so the flour sticks nicely to the face) animals and other forms of balloons, trowing balls to water bottles of your partner, throwing balls through the mouth of a clown and a giant jump-catapult to launch waterbaloons high up in the air and catching them with a colander. With all these games points are gained for a final well-deserved prize in the prize-shop.

The team consisted of five permanent workers here, Mija, Sjaak, Karen, Gloria, and Margaret and a short term worker Gilmara and volunteer Jacky.
